I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 2000 with a double major in Finance / Real Estate and Urban Land Economics. During finals week, one of my college professors presented me with an opportunity to become a commercial real estate appraiser. Over the next 10 years, I worked for three very highly respected firms in Madison and Milwaukee appraising a wide variety of commercial property including shopping centers, office buildings, hospitals, industrial buildings, land developments, and everything in between. I found that I am a numbers person at my core and that I excel at analyzing complex and unique properties.
In 2010 I opened my commercial appraisal office in La Crosse, Wisconsin and since then I have enjoyed great success appraising commercial real estate throughout the Midwest. I currently hold Certified General Appraiser licenses in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. I hold the prestigious MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and I have worked for banks, attorneys, accountants, private developers, Local, State, and Federal government agencies and I have testified as an expert witness in Federal court.
I have been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. I started a lawn care business when I was twelve years old mowing 25+ lawns per week. I saved every nickel I made cutting grass and was able to pay cash for my first two years of college. In 1997, while in college, I started a canoe rental business in Ontario, Wisconsin. I named it Titanic Canoe Rental; ironically six months before the hit movie came out. The canoe rental became a great success and I sold it to my parents in 2001 so that I could pursue a career in the “big city” as a commercial real estate appraiser.
My parents were able to make a comfortable living with the canoe business and in 2019 when it was time for my parents to retire, we decided to list the canoe rental business for sale with Alan Iverson, owner of Castle Realty. It took one year to find the right buyer for the business, but in the end, we found the perfect match and the business is in good hands today.
That experience of selling the family business with Alan Iverson and Castle Realty got me thinking that perhaps I should put my 20+ years of experience with commercial real estate to work helping other commercial property owners when it's time for them to sell. So, in May of 2021, I decided to join Alan Iverson in launching a commercial real estate division at Castle Realty.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Inthava, and our three children Lainey, Sophie, and Max. My favorite hobby is flying my antique airplane around the driftless area taking photos of the landscape at sunset. I’m also a mediocre guitar player and terrible fisherman, but I have a lot of fun nonetheless.
