Small Business Roundtable - October 2022

Join us for this casual event to connect and talk through topics that are relevant to small business owners. This event will feature three area business leaders in the La crosse Community.

Ben Phillips is President and CEO of Phillips Outdoor Services and began serving the Coulee Region at the age of 12. Growing up in a family business environment and serving the community taught him the importance and responsibility of strong leadership and the effect bad leadership can have on companies and their customers. In addition to creating Phillips Outdoor Services, he's developed and operated valet services for the Four Seasons Hotel Palm Beach and the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago. He also spent time as a Personal Trainer during his South Florida days. 

Some of his business passions are Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Building Brands and Culture, and Customer Service. One of his personal passions is helping others become the best versions of themselves, which has led him into his role as a self-development coach. Ben will share his perspective and insights on the importance of strong Leadership, which he has learned and developed through his personal and professional journey. "You have to BE before you can DO, and DO before you can HAVE."

Stephanie Ross is the owner of Zen and Pow fitness and yoga studio, coaches local women business owners through her company, Small Business Sister Circle, and is a real estate agent on the Sherie Grass Team at RE/MAX Results. Stephanie started Zen and Pow Studio in 2013 at age of 20 while attending the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. She is a multi-passionate entrepreneur that has relied on systems in her businesses to scale, grow her team, and stay sane through the ups and downs of small business ownership. Born and raised in the Coulee Region, Stephanie has a true heart for helping other local small business owners build sustainable, successful businesses. From sales funnels to social media, to training your team--Stephanie will share how she built systems for all parts of business to function smoothly.

Debra Lash - Stangel has owned and operated a business, The Wedding Tree, in downtown La Crosse for almost 3 decades. Almost ten years ago she started renovations on The Court Above Main, which is an historic ballroom venue started from scratch, and she also purchased the La Crosse Wedding EXPO, which her and her team have more than doubled in size. Her sister brands also produce a print publication annually. Deb has experience in business from start up to expanding, software implementation, sales, customer service, building ownership and renovations and nonprofits. Deb has worked as an instructor, a real estate agent, and a volunteer mentor for years. While her forte is increasing sales while reducing cost, she also has a knack for empowering and ensuring the correct people are in the right place to benefit all involved.
