No matter who you are or what you do, you've probably tried to create change. Sometimes you may have been successful...other times, you may have failed. Traditional persuasion is typically argumentative and structured. It works on the idea that a speaker can make the most effective argument through types of appeals, evidence use, and “winning” the argument. There are many examples of this approach in popular culture. This workshop will go over a new approach to persuasion that focuses on finding common ground and problem solving, an invitational approach.
